Dear Parents and Staff/Estimados padres y personal,
We have been informed by the Kearny County Health Department that an individual in the Middle School has tested positive for Covid-19 based on a test taken on ___10/1/2020___. This person and his or her family have been directed to self-quarantine as per KDHE regulations.
If your student has been a close contact with this individual the Kearny County Health Department will contact you and advise you on a course of action. If you are not contacted but feel your student may have been exposed or is experiencing symptoms please keep your student home from school and contact the health department at 620-355-6342.
As a result of this positive case, we will be instituting more intensive health protocols including masks, hand washing, sanitizing and increased cleaning. We are committed to keeping students and staff safe and in school and we appreciate your cooperation as we all work toward that goal.

El Departamento de Salud del Condado de Kearny nos informó que una persona en la escuela dio positivo en la prueba de Covid-19 según una prueba que se tomó el ___10/1/2020____. Esta persona y su familia han recibido instrucciones de auto cuarentena de acuerdo con las regulaciones de KDHE.
Si su estudiante ha estado en contacto cercano con esta persona, el Departamento de Salud del Condado de Kearny se comunicará con usted y le aconsejara sobre qué acción debe tomar. Si no lo contactan pero siente que su estudiante puedo haber estado expuesto o está experimentando síntomas, por favor mantenga a su estudiante en casa, no vaya a la escuela y comuníquese con el departamento de salud al 620-355-6342.
Como resultado de este caso positivo, instituiremos protocolos de salud más intensivos que incluyen máscaras, lavado de manos, desinfección y mayor limpieza. Estamos comprometidos a mantener a los estudiantes y al personal seguros en la escuela y agradecemos su cooperación mientras todos trabajamos hacia esa meta.

Positive Phone Call of the Day!! These students demonstrated great leadership and responsibility in voluntarily picking up trash on the playground!!




Congrats to Mrs. Anderson on being drawn for some teacher swag after submitting her postcard feedback form that staff get every week. Good luck to everyone else next time. The more feedback you turn in from week to week the better your chances are for swag!


Congratulations to the students pictured below for receiving a positive office referral for the month of September. Huge shout out to our LMS September Student of the Month, Aryn Michaelis in the 5/6 hallway and Skyler Parks in the 7/8 hall. Sure proud of these kids and the work they’ve been doing!

Congratulations to Michelle Cervantes and Orinn Norris for being selected as our Lakin High School October Students of the Month.
Michelle is a Junior at LHS. Her favorite classes are English and Art. Her future plans are to go to college and become a lawyer.
Orinn is a Sophomore at LHS. His favorite classes are Ag Business and Science. His future plans are to continue his education by possibly going to lineman school. Congrats Michelle and Orinn!!!

Thank you to the donors who helped LMS & LHS Stuco meet their donation goal for the Red Cross Blood Drive. We collected 47 units of blood which could possibly save 141 lives!
