Congratulations to our LHS Female Student of the month Anne Sophie Van Der Knaap. Anne Sophie is a Jr at LHS and her favorite subject is Math. Her future plans are to go to college for something in the medical field. Congrats Sophie!!

Regional SCB and HS WR have been postponed due to weather. Both events have been rescheduled for Monday at the same time / location.
Good evening Lakin families. School is cancelled tomorrow, Thursday February 3rd due to poor road conditions and extreme cold. Stay safe and warm.
After visiting with HPL members, we have districts that are leaning to not having school on Thursday, 2/3/22 due to the snow, road conditions, and frigid temperatures. Therefore, the opening round games will be postponed on Thursday, 2/3/22 at Lakin Schools and the following is our new plan:
1. On Saturday, 2/5/22, Lakin Schools will host both the opening round games and the semi-final round games. At this time, Mr. Heydman and Mr. Schmitt are working on the schedule for Saturday and will distribute information to you when ready.
2. On Monday, 2/7/22, Southwestern Heights will host the final round championship games. The "B" team championship girls and boys games will be played at 5:30PM CST and the "A" team championship girls and boys games will be played at 6:45PM CST. Mr. Stanfield will distribute information to you for Monday's games when ready. Please know the 3rd/4th consolation games are cancelled.
3. Due to moving games to Monday, 2/7/22, SWH will move their scheduled JH Scholars Bowl Meet from 2/7/22 to Wednesday, 2/9/22.

Winner of the quilt was Patty Montes!!! We delivered the quilt to her and she was thrilled! My students raised $1,500 in ticket sales and the total of donations coming in was $2,050! I would like to thank the entire community for their support in raising this money. Proceeds will go to buy more fabric for our students to make more quilts for veterans in our community! My motto for these students has always been, “ Create with your hands and give from the heart”. Thank you again!

With the expected inclement weather predicted for Wednesday, 2/2/22, we will move the opening round games of the HPL JH Basketball Tournament to Thursday, 2/3/22. Lakin Schools will host on Thursday with game start times beginning at 1:00PM CST.
On Wednesday morning/afternoon, we will look at the severity of the weather and make a decision if it is safe to play on Thursday. If Thursday is not possible, we are looking at having the opening round games at Lakin Schools on Saturday, 2/5/22 and the combined semi-final/final round games at either Elkhart or SWH on Monday, 2/7/22.
4:30 PM - HS BB (H) vs Wichita Co
HS BB goes 3-1 tonight vs Syracuse with the varsity girls, varsity boys and C boys picking up wins. The Broncs are back in action tomorrow vs Wichita Co.
Weather predictions for Wednesday, 2/2/22 continue to fluctuate with expected snow (80% chance) from one to six inches and very cold. Our league has made some changes for this week's MS BB tournament.
Opening round games will be moved to Thursday, 2/3/22 at Lakin Schools. The tournament start time will be moved back to begin at 1:00PM CST.
The semi-final round games will be moved to Saturday, 2/5/22 and will be played at Elkhart Schools as they have already lined up workers, referees, concessions, etc.
After the completion of the semi-final round games, the championship final round games will follow at Elkhart Schools. The third/fourth consolation games will be canceled.
