Our district has made a huge investment and commitment to Kagan Cooperative Learning training for teachers. And it’s definitely worth the investment as evidenced through a teacher’s words. “It’s amazing how something so simple brings out so much discussion and learning.”

I've said it over and over before about how lucky our students are to have the teachers they have and last night was a perfect example of that.
On behalf of the Lakin Middle School staff I was proud to accept the Challenge Award of Merit from District 5 KSDE State Board Rep Mrs. Jean Clifford last night at our USD 215 Board meeting.
The Challenge Awards were created to honor schools that performed well on the state assessments and had high percentages of students from disadvantaged backgrounds. The Challenge Awards recognize schools for outstanding achievements and uncommon accomplishments based on Kansas math and reading assessment results and other qualifying factors, specifically the sample size, ethnicity and social-economic status of those taking the test.
Once again, I'm proud of the staff that we have here at LMS, whose daily, selfless sacrifice helps make our kids and community better. Often times in education we don't know the impact we have as teachers, this time we do.
Thank you LMS teachers!
