5th grade had a great day on their field trip to La Junta. They were still able to watch the Koshare Dancers and go to Bents Fort.

6th grade continued on the tradition of making rockets today. They will shoot them off on the last day of school.

I don't do very good at recognizing the adults in this building on a daily basis for what they do, so here goes. This year has been hard, really hard. We want the best for our kids each day and this year has put limits on what we previously had defined as the best. However, through it all, the adults in the LMS continue to impress me everyday. They have not only tackled the challenges posed to every school across the country this year, most of the time it's been with a smile on their face. They have humbled themselves and their practice for the betterment of our kids and community. The have critically looked at what we do, why we do it and how we can get better. They haven't used any situation as an excuse to not improve for our kids. They have given hours of their life and their families lives to have a positive impact on each one of your kids. They understand the importance of their roles, they have a heart of gold, they care about doing what's best for our kids even when it's more work for them or makes them uncomfortable. In a world where everyone has an opinion on everything... well here's mine... We have the best staff for our kids in Lakin. I guarantee your kids and our community are better off because of the adults in their lives at school. Happy Teacher Appreciation week to all Lakin Teachers, especially those at the LMS. They don't do it for your approval or mine, they do it because they care. If you get a chance I'd encourage you to tell them thanks for their service.
