The cross country teams traveled to Larned Thursday for a rare mid-week meet.

In cool and gray conditions, the boys missed out on a team title by just a point, while the girls finished fourth.

Hoisington won the boys race with 74 points. Lakin (75) was second and Sterling (84) third in the eight-team meet.

Lakin sophomores finished one-two in the varsity boys’ race.

Austin Ritsema won the meet in 16:55, with Alex Luce on his heels at 16:55.3.

Leo Shelden placed 12th (18:57.9), Tyler Holloway 33rd (20:20.6, Eric Munson 40th (20:45.4), and Isaac Jaquez 42nd (20:40.7).

Maile White led the varsity girls, placing 13th in 22:29.9. Jordan Ortiz was 19th (23:06.9).

Anne Sophie Van. Der Knaap was 24th (23:43.3), Josiah Ortiz 28th (24:16.8)Ivy Davis 55th (26:02.7) Elina Helwich 57th (26.21.8) and Odaliz Garcia 60th (26:26.9).

Lakin’s JV boys fared well.

Jose Acosta finished second (20:06.7), Camden Bergkamp sixth (20:48.9), Anthony Ornelas 11th (21:12), Gabe Cox 14th (21:40.2), Nathan Estes 25th (22:59.3), Zael Bermudez 17th (22:05.4), Zalvador Bermudez 28th (23:36.7), and Brock Pauda 31st (25:11.2).

In the girls JV race, Abby Holmes finished third (26:22), Kayleen Tanner fourth (26:23.9) and Shillelagh Kentner 13th (30:42.9).
