  The softball team travelled to Scott City last Friday, dropping a pair of windy games, 17-16 and 15-1.

   The Broncs led 7-0 after two innings and 11-7 after four.

   After Scott City scored three times in the fifth inning, Lakin put five more runs on the board to take a 16-10 lead.

   The Beavers came right back in the bottom of the sixth and scored seven times, shutting out the Broncs in the seventh to get the win.

   Lakin had 19 hits to the Beavers’ 18, but Lakin had five errors to Scott City’s three.

   Talyn Beltran had three hits (two of them home runs) and six runs batted in, while Sara Wright had three hits with four RBI.

   Jara Davidson also had three hits.

   Cadence Brown pitched all six innings, striking out none and walking seven.

   In the second game, Lakin score one time in the first for its only run, while Scott City scored three in the first and four in each of the next three innings to get the win.

   Taegan Bachman had two of the Broncs’ six hits. Jaya Esquibel had one hit, a double.

   Bachman pitched all four innings, getting three strikeouts and walking three.

   Lakin falls to 4-4.
