Goodland drops Broncs to 0-3

The visiting Cowboys of Goodland scored three times in the opening quarter Friday on their way to handing the home Broncs a 30-0 defeat.

Goodland scored on three short running plays to pull ahead 22-0 after one quarter.

Their fourth score was another run in the third period.

Lakin ran 53 plays for 156 yards; Goodland ran 51 plays for 354 yards.

The Cowboys outgunned the Broncs 241-140 on the ground and 113-16 through the air.

Lakin had three turnovers (two of them fumbles) to Goodland’s two (both on interceptions).

Cole Larkan-Waechter ran the ball 27 times for 118 yards. His longest carry was 25 yards.

Avery Manzano had 22 yards on seven carries, with a long of 17 yards.

Brian Moreno had one catch for nine yards and Jason Arreola had one for seven yards. Reed Bemis was 2-of-8 passing for 16 yards.

Damian Cervantes had two tackles for loss. Remey Perez, Arian Enriquez and Emanuel Valle all were in on seven tackles.

Moreno and Manzano each had an interception.

Lakin (0-3) will travel to Cimarron Friday and will host Southwestern Heights Oct. 2 for Homecoming.
