Cross country competes in Hugoton

The cross. Country teams traveled to Hugoton Saturday, where the boys finished third and the girls placed second.

The Lakin girls scored 73 points to finish runner-up to Grover (39) in the eight-team field.

Kate Miller finished second (19:26.31) and Jeci Mead fourth (20:21.64) to lead the girls.

Emma Miller finished 21st and Honey Murillo 28th.

Tess Barnhardt (30th), Claire Barnhardt (31st) and Tynslee Wideman (44th) rounded out the girls team.

Freshman Miles Delgado led the Broncs with a fifth-place finish, running the 5K course in 17:20.87.

Gavin Dyas was sixth, running 17:30.77.

Josiah Sholtz placed 13th and Clark Maddux 31st. Blake Vasquez (48) and Kaydon Wilson (68) rounded out the Broncs squad.

Holcomb’s boys won the meet with 44 points. Scott City was second with 73 and Lakin third with 88 in the nine-team field.

Winning time was 16:36.86 by Michael Hermosillo of Scott City.

In the eighth grade girls division, Kirbe Koons finished ninth in the 2-mile race (14:21.97) and Joleigh Lohman-Fuller 10th (14:23.76).

Owen Maddux finished 25th in the seventh-grade boys division.
