Villa shines in golf openers

The girls golf season got underway with a pair of meets.
The girls opened the season Tuesday in Stanton County in a 9-hole tournament. Senior Lileah Villa tied for sixth with a 47 (+11). Winning score was 40.
Lanee Waechter tied for 20th with a 60.
At Hugoton Thursday, Villa tied for fifth with a 46 (+10) in the 9-hole meet. Winning score was 41.
Waechter tied for 34th with a 65.
The Broncs compete Tuesday in Goodland and Thursday in Cimarron.
The Lady Broncs have a small team this season, consisting of two freshmen and one senior. Although the team is young, Coach Charity Medill said she is excited about their potential and looks forward to watching each golfer improve throughout the season.
