Eighth graders win HPL track

Both eighth grade track teams took home titles Monday at the league meet in Elkhart.
The girls, led by Kamry Michaelis’ four wins, scored 147 points to run away from runner-up Wichita County’s 105.
The boys had just five individual titles but trounced the field with 205 points, far ahead of runner-up Stanton County's 106.
Girls results
Kamry Michaelis finished her middle school career in fine fashion, winning four events.
Michaelis won the 100m hurdles in 18.66 seconds and the 200m hurdles in 33.23.
She also took the high jump, clearing 5-3, and the triple jump, leaping 33-9.
Tess Barnhardt won the 100m dash in 14.35 seconds. She finished second in the 200m dash in 30.47.
Lanee Waechter was second in the pole vault, clearing 8-0. She was third in the 100m dash.
Yareli Altamirano was second in the shot put, putting 32-3.5.
Tatum Rodd was third in the 400m and fourth in the triple jump.
Ryann Bamberger finished third in the 100m hurdles and third in the shot put.
Tynslee Wideman was third in the 1600m run. Kai Calkins finished third in the pole vault.
The 4x100 relay team won in 54.92 seconds. The 4x200 relay was fourth and the 4x400 third.
Boys results
Miles Delgado led the Broncs to a team win by claiming two tiers in the distance events.
Delgado won the 1600m in 5:25.75 and the 3200m in 11:49.19.
He was second in the 100m hurdles (18.40 seconds).
Blaine Sperry won the long jump, leaping 16-7. He was second in the 100m dash (13.21 seconds) and in the 200m dash (26.11).
Rigo Rodrigues won the 200m hurdles in 18.26 seconds. He was third in the 100m dash and the 200m dash.
David Villa finished second in the triple jump, landing 36-0. Emanuel Valle was second in the high jump (4-10). Karson Lovelady finished second in the javelin (107-2).
Other third places went to Calvin Gugelmeyer in the 100m hurdles, and Lovelady in the discus.
Fourth places went to Kraig Wilson in the 100m, Clark Maddux in the 1600m, Jace Berning in the 200m hurdles, Gugelmeyer in long jump and 800m, and Braxton Lynch in the high jump.
All three relay teams finished second.
