Softball sweeps Holcomb

Lakin finished its regular softball season on the road Thursday at Holcomb. The Broncs won 5-1 and 13-2 as they head into the post-season.

In game one, Lakin scored first in the opening inning when Kiah Beymer drove in a run on a line out.

In the top of the third inning, Lileah Villa hit a triple down the left field line. That, and a Holcomb error on the same play, scored two more runs.

Beymer led the team with 3-for-4 hitting and stole two of Lakin’s seven bases.

Beymer got the win, going the distance. She gave up just three hits and one earned run, striking out three and walking one.

In game two, Villa went 3-for-3 at the plate and Maelee Katz had three runs batted in.

The Broncs scored seven runs in the first inning and three in the next to take a 10-0 lead. They added three more in the fifth.

Lakin out-hit Holcomb 8-3.

In the first inning, Taybree Lohman-Fuller walked to score a run. Villa singled in two runs and Aydrah Rosales singled to plate two more.

Beymer gave up one hit and no runs in four innings, striking out two and walking two.

After a 1-9 start, the Broncs are 11-3 since then as they head into post-season play 12-12.
