Softball splits at Hugoton

The softball team split a pair of one-run games at Hugoton Thursday, winning the first 3-2 in extra innings and dropping the second 7-6.
In game one, the Broncs were tied at 202 in the top of the eighth when Kiah Beymer hit a solo home run to center field.
Lakin scored a run in the second when Taegan Oldham scored on an error, then they took the lead in the third when Atlantis Hernandez hit a triple and scored on a misplay of her hit.
Beymer got the wind, pitching all eight innings. She gave up two runs (one earned), striking out two and walking five.
In game two, Lakin was leading 6-5 when Hugoton scored two runs in the bottom of the seventh.
The Broncs got their first run in the first inning on a ground out by Taybree Lohman-Fuller.
Maelee Katz grounded out in the second to plate another run and Lakin took a 2-1 lead.
In the fifth, tied at 2-2, Lileah Villa walked, scoring one run. Oldham hit a triple to plate two more runs.
Beymer took the loss, giving up seven runs (three earned), striking out two and walking one.
Oldham and Sara Martinez each had two hits, each hitting a triple.
