Baseball falls to Colby

The baseball team struggled at home Friday, falling to Colby 16-0 and 9-3.
In game one, Colby scored six runs in the third inning and nine in the fourth get the win in four innings.
The Eagles outhit Lakin 11-1, with the Broncs committing six errors.
Brayden Ansel got Lakin’s lone hit, a single in the bottom of the fourth.
The Broncs got on base four times via walk, with Angel Davila and Ansel both getting steals.
Three Lakin pitchers gave up the 16 runs, but only six were earned. They struck out two batters and waled eight.
In game two, Colby scored three times in the first inning and twice in the third.
Lakin got on the board in the bottom of the third when Wyatt Burch singled to right, driving in Weston Loeppke.
The Broncs scored again the the fourth. Ansel drove in Eli Bemis on a single, then Loeppke hit a triple to left, scoring Ansel.
Colby scored three times in the top of the fifth and once in the seventh.
Lakin committed five errors to Colby’s two, while the Eagles outhit the Broncs 8-5.
Burch pitched the opening two innings, giving up three runs (none of them earned). He struck out one and walked four.
