Softball sweeps Dodge City

The softball team picked up a sweep of Dodge City on the road Thursday, 19-3 and 10-3, running their winning streak to six.

Paiton Talmadge had a big night at the plate in game one, driving in four runs on three hits to lead the Broncs.

Her single in the fourth inning scored three runs and a double in the fourth scored another.

In the fourth, Latin scored 10 runs. Leading 9-3 at the time, Taybree Lohman-fuller led off with a double and Lileah Villa singled to score her.

Lakin scored five runs before their first two outs, then they scored five more times before the inning’s end and the 19-3 lead.

Kiah Beymer pitched all four innings, giving up three runs (only one earned), striking out six and walking one.

Four players scored three runs each. Talmadge had her four runs batted in and Villa had three.

Lakin had 13 stolen bases. The Red Demons committed six errors while Lakin had none.

In game two, Dodge City jumped out to a 3-0 lead after one inning but Lakin scored runs in the fourth and fifth to close to 3-2.

The Broncs scored four times in both the sixth and seventh innings to complete the sweep.

Lakin out-hit the Red Demons 11-4. Both teams committed four errors.

Lohman-Fuller had three runs batted in for Lakin. She, Beymer and Maelee Katz all had two hits, including doubles.

Beymer pitched all seven innings, giving up one earned run and four hits, striking out seven and walking one.
