Baseball drops two at Ulysses

By LHSports

The baseball team found Ulysses to not be such nice hosts Thursday as they fell to the Tigers, 14-1 in both games.

Tied at 1-1 after one inning in game one, Ulysses scored three runs in the second, seven in the third, and three more in the fourth to get the run-rule win.

The Tigers outhit Lakin 15-1 and took advantage of four Broncs errors.

Enrique Ortega picked up Lakin’s lone hit and Eli Bemis drove in the only run when he reached base via a groundout and error, which scored Wyatt Burch from second base in the opening inning.

Burch pitched the first two innings, giving up four runs (two earned), striking out three and walking one.

In the second game, Ulysses scored four in the first inning, three in the second and seven in the third, taking advantage of four Lakin errors.

Bemis scored in the fourth on a throwing error.

Angel Davila took the loss, pitching two-thirds of an inning, giving up four runs (only one earned).

Davila and Ortega each had a hit for Lakin, with Ortega’s being a double in the fifth.
