Baseball gets sweep in Elkhart

The baseball team made a clean sweep of things in Elkhart Tuesday, taking down the Wildcats 15-12 and 18-8.

In game one, Elkhart outhit the Broncs 9-6, but the Wildcats committed nine errors to Lakin’s’ five.

Leading 3-2 after one inning, the Broncs scored six runs in the top of the second. Wyatt Burch drove in two runs with a triple and Jayden Johnson’s single plated two more.

Heading into the seventh, Lakin led 11-9. They outscored Elkhart 4-3 in that inning to hold on for the win.

Burch led the team with two hits. He had a double to go with the triple. Johnson and Kyle Douglas both had three stolen bases.

Angel Avila got the win, pitching three innings, giving up five hits and five runs (one earned). Burch started, striking out two and walking three.

In game two, Lakin scored seven runs in the first and six in the second to take a 13-6 lead. Five more runs in the fifth sealed the run-rule game.

Both teams committed seven errors and Lakin outhit the Wildcats 8-7.

Burch had two hits and Eli Bemis had two runs batted in to pace the Broncs.

Bemis went the distance, striking out five and walking one. Only three of the eight runs he surrendered were earned.
