Track teams open season with wins

The track and field season started off with a bang for Lakin as both the girls and boys teams took team titles at Stanton County Tuesday.
The girls scored 140 points. Stanton County was second with 93 points in the nine-team field.
The boys scored 137 points. Stanton County was second with 125 points in the 10-team field.
Girls results
Aryn Michaelis led the girls with a triple-gold day.
Michaelis won the 100-meter hurdles, running 15.79 seconds. She also took the high jump, clearing 5-4, and the triple jump, jumping 36-6.75.
Emma Miller won the 3200-meter run in 13:35.31. She was third in the 1600-meters (6:23.55).
Kate Miller finished second in the 1600-meters (5:39.70) and third in the 800-meters (2:33.19).
Also taking second were Amari Esquibel in the 100-meter dash (12.79) and Aubrielle Yakel in the javelin (85-6).
Third place went to Jordan McCombs in the 100-meter hurdles (17.41), Marissa Aller in the discus (87-8) and Desi White (80-3).
The 4x100 relay team of Re-cie Dixon, Claire Barnhardt, McCombs and Esquibel, running 52.91.
The 4x400 relay team of Barnhardt, McCombs, Esquibel and Sydny Holloway was third (4:33.57).
The 4x800 relay of Kate Miller, Barnhardt, Emma Miller and Isabella VanDerKnaap finished second (11:50.20).
Boys results
Quincy Esquibel led the boys with two individual titles.
The senior won the 110-meter hurdles, running 15.15 seconds. He also won the triple jump, leaping 43-0.5.
Zael Bermudez won the 3200-meters in 10:39.81. Camden Bergkamp was second (11:14.72) and Gavin Dyas third (11:29.89).
Jesse Lancaster won the pole vault, clearing 12-0. Cade Berning was third (10-6).
Miguel Rosales was second in the javelin, throwing 127-11.
Finishing third were Bergkamp in the 1600-meters (5:07.22), Cole Larkin in the 100-meter dash (11.37), Adriel Clymer in the high jump (5-8), and Cage Line in the shot put (44-8.5).
The 4x100 relay team of Larkan, Esquibel, Clymer and Aydyn Holloway was second (45.21).
The 4x400 relay team of Clymer, Esquibel, Holloway and Larkin was third (3:59.58).
The 4x800 relay of Bermudez, Dyas, Josiah Sholtz and Bergkamp was second (9:07.38).
