Softball drops two in opener

The softball team opened the season at home Friday, dropping a pair of games to Colby, 7-2 and 14-0.
In the first game, Colby scored four runs in the top of the sixth inning to break a 3-3 tie to get the win.
The Eagles out-hit Lakin 9-7 and committed the only error of the game.
Atlantis Hernandez singled in a run in the bottom of the second. In the fifth, Kiah Beymer drove in a run with a groundout and Paiton Talmadge drove in another with a single.
Talmadge went 2-for-3 at the plate. Of the Broncs’ five stolen bases, Lileah Villa had two.
Taegan Oldham allowed nine hits and seven runs (six earned), striking out eight and walking five.
In game two, the teams were scoreless through three innings, but Colby scored in each of the next three innings before plating seven runs in the seventh.
Colby out-hit Lakin 12-4, with the Broncs committing three errors.
Beymer had two of Lakin’s four hits, one of those a double.
Beymer gave up 13 runs (10 earned) and 11 hits, striking out eight and walking four.
