Middle school track sweeps field

The middle school track and field season got off to a hot start Thursday as all four teams swept titles at Stanton County.
The eighth grade boys won with 215 points, ahead of runner-up Cimarron’s 92 points in the eight-team field
The eighth grade girls scored 169 points, ahead of Cimarron’s 130.
The seventh grade boys won with 184 points, in front of Stanton County’s 112
The seventh grade girls out-scored Elkhart 189-101.
Eighth grade boys
Lakin picked up 10 titles to win the eighth grade boys division.
Miles Delgado picked up three titles. He won the 1600-meter run in 5:27.96, the 3200-meters in 11:14.07 and the 100-meter hurdles in 17.69.
Blaine Sperry won the 100-meters in 12.39 and the long jump with a leap of 17-4.50. He was second in the 200-meters (25.48).
Emmanuel Valle won the 400-meter run in 1:00.91 and was second in the high jump (5-0).
David Villa won the triple jump, going 32-11.75.
Rigo Rodriguez won the 200-meter hurdles in 3065. He was third in the 100-meter hurdles (18.53).
The relay teams won the 4x100 (50.47) and 4x00 (4:10.41). The 4x200 was second (1:54.27).
Luke Woodrow was second in the pole vault (6-6). Jace Berning was third in the 200 hurdles and Aaron Kiesel third in the shot put.
Eighth grade girls
Kamry Michaelis won four individual titles. She won the 100-meter hurdles in 17.16, the high jump by clearing 5-2, the triple jump with a leap of 32-9, and the 200-meter hurdles (32.54).
Lanee Waechter won the 200-meter dash in 29.49. She was second in the 100-meters in 13.88.
Briseis Ornelas finished second in the long jump (12-11.5) and third in the 400-meters.
Kai Calkins was second in the 100-meter hurdles (19.06) and third in the pole vault.
Tatum Rodd was third in both the 800-meters and the triple jump. Renata Quinones was third in the long jump.
In the relays, Lakin won the 4x-100 (55.58), second in the 4x400 and third in the 4x200.
Seventh grade boys
Five boys won titles for the seventh grade.
Brelund Budd won the discus (96-4) and the shot put (31-11.5). He finished fourth in the javelin.
Luke Miller won the 1600-meters in 6:02.54 and the 3200-meters in 12:14.45. He was second in the 100-meter hurdles.
Armani Salcido won the 100-meters in 12.82. He was second in the 200-meters (26.76) and third in the long jump.
Jonathan Gannett won the 800-meters in 2:53.85 and finished second in the 3200-meters (12:15.93).
Kingston Guerrero won the 200-meter hurdles in 36.84.
Jacob Asebedo was second in the long jump (15-7) and third in the 200-meters.
Malachi Piper finished second in the shot put and Kobe Wilson was third in the triple jump.
Seventh grade girls
Joleigh Lohman-Fuller helped the girls to a team title with a pair of titles. She won the 400-meters in 1:10.35 and the 100-meter hurdles in 19.42. She placed second in the high jump.
Kirby Koons also had a pair of titles, taking the 800-meters in 3:28.37 and the 3200-meters in 14:21.25.
Tayleigh Yakel won the discus title with a throw of 64-6. She was second in the shot put (26-11), second in the javelin (57-11) and third in the triple jump.
Lucia Davis won the shot put, throwing 27-11. She was second in the 100-meters (14.05) and the 200-meters (30.06).
Finishing second were Ellisa Randolph in the 200-meter hurdles (37.43) and Finnly Jones in the long jump (12-4.5).
