Boys fall to Stanton County

The road was not kind to the boys basketball team Tuesday as they dropped a game at Stanton County, 58-41.

After trailing 14-12 at the end of the first quarter, Lakin had two leads in the second, the last one 21-20, but they still trailed 29-24 at halftime.

The Trojans outscored Lakin 16-6 in the third to pull away for the win.

The Broncs hit just 23 percent from the field (7 of 27 inside the arc and 8 of 37 from 3-point range), while the Trojans converted 44 percent.

Stanton County won the rebounding 39-32.

Miguel Marquez led the Broncs with 12 points. Jesse Peregrino and Aydyn Holloway both added nine and Norman Cantu seven.

Reed Bemis had nine rebounds and Cantu seven.

Peregrino had three assists, and he and Flo Canac each had three steals.
