Girls hold off Stanton County

In the final regular season week of basketball, Lakin picked up a win, 55-41, at Stanton County Tuesday.

Stanton County had a 14-11 lead after one quarter, but Lakin responded with a 19-4 run in the second to take a 30-18 lead at halftime.

Both teams shot around 33 percent from the floor, with both hitting 13 field goals from the floor (Lakin was 13 of 44; Stanton County 13 of 25).

The Broncs were 5 of 10 from 3-point range, while the Trojans were just 2 of 19.

Lakin won the rebounding, 43-31. From their 16 offensive rebounds, Lakin scored 13 of their points off second chances.

Jordan McCombs led the Broncs with 15 points and Lileah Villa added 10.

Aryn Michaelis had 10 rebounds and Villa eight. Villas had four steals and six assists.

The girls raised their record to 15-4 with two games remaining before post-season play begins.
