Girls wrestling comes to end in regionals

The girls wrestling season came to end Friday at the Class 3-1A regional in WaKeeney.
At 120 pounds, Jersey Gonzalez lost her opening round by fall to Arianna Weigel of Russell. In her consolation match, she defeated Adelaide Rummel of Plainville by fall (1:22). She lost by fall in her next round to Madison Siegfried of St. Francis.
At 130 pounds, Miley Roth lost her first round by fall to Annika Dietz of WaKeeney. In consolation, she lost by fall to Bella Cofer of Cimarron.
At 135 pounds, Paiton Talmadge got a first-round bye. In her set semifinal, she lost by fall (3:54) to Angela Barreras of Wichita County.
On the backside, Talmadge won her next match by technical fall (15-0) over China Shelly of Republic County. In her next consolation match, she lost to Jenna Borror of Ellinwood by decision (7-5).
