Boys slide by Mustangs

Tuesday’s game in the old gym had all the makings of an old-time battle.
On Throwback Night, Lakin eked out a 57-55 win over Southwestern Heights to improve to 8-6.
Heights led 15-8 after one quarter and 31-25 at halftime.
Lakin pulled ahead with a 21-12 third quarter before the Mustangs came back, taking the lead late in the final period before the Broncs took the lead for good late.
Lakin shot just 32 percent from the floor, including just 6 of 31 from 3-point range. Heights shot 37 percent.
The Broncs outscored Heights 23-13 from turnovers.
Lakin won the rebounds, 42-39.
Flo Canac led the Broncs with 22 points. Miguel Marquez scored 16 points off the bench, including four 3-pointers.
Reed Bemis had nine rebounds and Cage Line eight.
Canac had three assists and Bemis had three steals.
