Girls roll to big win

The Lakin girls followed up their league tournament title game last Monday with a huge 84-24 win at Elkhart Friday.

The girls rolled to a 23-9 lead after one period and outscored the Wildcats 33-5 in the second.

Lakin was 33 of 56 from 2-point range (50 percent) and hit. Four 3-pointers.

Elkhart was just 6 of 31 overall from the floor (19 percent).

The Broncs outscored Elkhart 44-3 on transition and 44-7 off turnovers. And 26 of their field goals came off assists.

Fifty-four of their points came inside the paint.

Lakin won the rebound battle 41-20.

Elkhart committed 34 turnovers to just 11 for the Broncs.

Twelve Broncs broke into the scoring column, led by 15 points from Aryn Michaelis. Lileah Villa had 14, Amari Esquibel and Taybree Lohman-Fuller both had 10.

Michaelis and Lohman-Fuller each had six rebounds, with Aubrie Yakel pulling down five.

Sydny Holloway had five assists, and Jordan McCombs, Taegan Oldham and Villa each had four.

Kate Miller had five steals and five deflections.

The girls ended January with a 10-3 record.
