The boys basketball team overcame a slow start to take down Stanton County 62-52 to claim the league tournament title last Monday at the college.
Postponed due to weather from Saturday, Monday’s game was worth the wait for the Broncs, who won their third straight title and 16th overall in 26 finals appearances.
Lakin trailed 14-10 after the opening quarter but rallied for a 25-22 halftime lead. They used a 20-12 third period to pull away for the win.
The Broncs shot 44 percent from the field, with the Trojans converting 40 percent.
The defense caused 21 turnovers, translating into 24 of Lakin’s points.
The Broncs won the rebound battle, 33-28.
Flo Canac led the Broncs with 28 points (10 of 21 from the floor and 8 of 9 from the free throw line).
Reed Bemis and Aydyn Holloway both had eight points.
Canac and Cage Line both had five rebounds. Canac added seven assists and six steals.
