Girls rebound for tournament title

By LHSports

After the finals of the league tournament were delayed by two days, the Broncs girls may have been off their rhythm.

Early in Monday’s championship game, things looked bleak early, the Broncs snapped back from a 20-7 deficit to take down Syracuse 56-32 to claim their ninth title in 16 finals.

The Broncs trailed 15-5 after one period and fell behind 20-7 early in the second period.

From that point, however, everything seemed to go Lakin’s way. The Broncs outscored the Bulldogs 49-12 the rest of the way.

Lakin shot 37 percent from the floor, including three 3-pointers.

Twenty-eight Syracuse turnovers led to 18 of Lakin’s points.

Lakin out-rebounded the Bulldogs 31-19.

Aryn Michaelis led the Broncs with 26 points. Jordan McCombs added 12.

Michaelis had 13 rebounds. Lileah Villa had six assists. Michaelis and Taybree Lohman-Fuller both had three steals.
