Garden City holds off Lakin girls

After a strong first 10 minutes, the Lakin girls couldn’t contain Garden City, falling 55-50 at home Tuesday.
Lakin led 14-10 after the first quarter and went up 16-10 early in the second, trailing 26-21 at halftime.
Midway into the final period, Garden City took a 53-41 lead before the Broncs mounted a comeback, outscoring the Buffs 9-2 down the stretch.
Lakin converted 36 percent of their shots, 17 of 39 from inside the arc.
The Broncs were 13 of 20 from the free throw line and the Buffs 8 of 17.
The Buffs edged Lakin on the boards, 29-28.
Aryn Michaelis led the Broncs with 17 points and 14 rebounds.
Lileah Villa had 12 points. Jordan McCombs had five assists and two steals.
