Boys fall to Garden City

A late surge wasn’t enough for the Lakin boys as they fell at home to Garden City 48-44 Tuesday.
The Broncs pulled to within two points late in the game on an Aydyn Holloway three-pointer but it was a case of too little, too late.
Lakin held a 15-14 lead after one quarter but trailed 27-25 by halftime and 38-32 after three.
Trailing 43-34 early in the final period, the Broncs 10-5 down the stretch to close the gap.
Lakin hit for 33 percent from the floor to the Buff’s 30 percent. The Broncs converted eight regular field goals and eight 3-pointers.
Garden City made four more free throws than Lakin (8 of 15 vs. 4 of 5).
The Buffs outscored Lakin 14-5 off turnovers, 26-14 in the paint and 12-4 off second chances.
Garden City dominated the boards 47-27.
Flo Canac led the Broncs with 14 points, Jesse Peregrino 12 and Holloway nine.
Peregrino and Holloway each had five rebounds. Canac had four assists and Peregrino three assists.
