Wrestlers back on track

The high school wrestling teams got January started with a round robin tournament in Larned Thursday.

The Lakin boys picked up three individual titles.

Alex Robles was champion at 144 pounds, Remey Perez at 150, and Weston Loeppke at 190.

Robles went 4-0, with three of his wins by pin (1:08, :31, and :48). His other win was an 18-1 technical fall.

Perez was 6-0, winning all of his matches by pins. His falls ranged from 34 seconds to 1:30.

Loeppke went 4-0 in his round robin and got a fall in 1:52 in his title match.

His round robin matches were all pins, ranging from 23 seconds to 1:59.

Tyler Johnson was second at 106 pounds. He went 2-1, with both wins by pin.

Third place went to Eliez Rameriz at 113 pounds. He went 2-2, with both of his wins by pin.

Camden Bergkamp was fifth at 165, James Diesel fifth at 157, and Rommel Rodriguez fifth at 120.

Braden Lacy was seventh at 215 and Santiago Montes seventh at 120. Zael Bermudez was eighth at 132.

Paiton Talmadge led the girls with a fourth place finish at 135.

She won her first three matches by fall (:21, 1:41 and :42) before losing her final two bouts.

Miley Roth went 3-3 to finish sixth at 130. Jersey Gonzalez was seventh at 120.
