Both Lakin girls and boys finished second in the Lakin Invitational Saturday at Louks Park.
The girls finished second with 76 points. Scott City won the meet with 44 points.
Kate Miller led the girls, finishing sixth in 20:42.07. Winning time was 19:40.95 by Jailyn Brandi from Greeley County.
Emma Miller was ninth, running 21:02.86. Claire Barnhardt was 28th (22:37.24); Amari Esquibel 32nd (23:18.25).
Honey Murillo and Abby Holmes finished 42nd and 43rd, respectively.
For the boys, Zael Bermudez finished third, running 16:53.30. Camden Bergkamp was eighth, running 17:23.56.
Winning time was Brody Deniston of Holcomb, who ran 15:39.53.
Gavin Dyas finished 19th (18:10.31; Blake Matthews was 21st (18:18.49; Josiah Sholtz was 23rd (18:30.35).
Tyler Johnson was 36th and Kannon Woodrow 37th.
Holcomb finished first with 67 points, with Lakin second (74) and Scott City third (81).
In JV action, Brantley Martin placed sixth, running 20:01.19, Blake Walker eighth (20:24.03), and Salvador Bermudez 12th.
Middle school
7th grade boys: Luke Miller, 2nd (12:35.04); Jonathan Gannett, 7th; Raylan Holmes, 37th.
8th grade boys: Miles Delgado, 2nd (12:04.33); Clark Maddux, 6th; Blake Vasquez, 11th.
7th grade girls: Kirbe Koons, 5th (14:15.46).
8th grade girls: Tess Barnhardt, 4th (13:42.05).
