Football takes down Heights

The football team got back on the winning track on the road Friday, downing Southwestern Heights 37-16.
Lakin led just 8-0 at halftime after a 25-yard run by Eli Bemis.
Heights tied the game in the third on a run play, but the Broncs responded with run plays by Alex Robles of 13 and 70 yards to take 24-8 lead into the fourth quarter.
The Mustangs scored to close to within 24-16, but Lakin scored on runs of 59 by Robles and seven yards by Weston Loeppke to seal the victory.
The Broncs ran 40 plays for 413 yard, including 403 on the ground. Heights ran 66 plays for just 264 yards, including 156 in the air.
Robles led the offense with 307 rushing yards on just 20 carries. Bemis had 76 yards on seven carries.
Reed Bemis was 1 of 4 passing for 10 yards.
Cage Line and Jayden Johnson both had two tackles for loss and one sack each. Johnson was part of 13 tackles.
The Broncs (2-3 overall, 1-1 in district play) will host Hoisington Friday.
