Baseball opens playoffs with win

The Lakin baseball team won the quarterfinal round of the regional tournament with a 14-13 win at home over Southwestern Heights on Friday.
Tied 13-13 in the bottom of the seventh, Eli Bemis led off the inning with a single and took second on a Remey Perez sacrifice bunt.
Two batters later, Angel Davila hit a first-pitch single to left to drive in Bemis with the winning run.
Lakin took a 4-2 lead after one inning and 7-5 after two.
A 4-run third inning gave the Broncs an 11-5 lead, but Heights scored six times in the sixth to take a 13-12 lead.
Jayden Johnson drove in Armando Salcido from third in the bottom of the sixth to tie the game at 13-13, leading to Davila’s final-inning RBI game-winning single.
Heights out-hit the Broncs 16-13.
The Broncs got two hits each from Gabe Cox, Davila, Bemis and Adrik Gomez-Esquibel.
Salcido got a triple for Lakin's only extra-base hit.
Davila batted in three runs for Lakin and Gomez-Esquibel knocked in a pair.
Dru Patterson had five of Lakin’s nine stolen bases.
Bemis got the start and pitched the final inning, going 2.1 total innings, striking out three and walking two.
Patterson came on the third, striking out five and walking three.
