Middle school dominates league track

The middle school track teams won three of our team titles at the league meet in Sublette Monday.

The seventh grade girls won with 149 points, ahead of Southwestern Heights’ 117 in the six-team field.

The seventh grade boys ran away with the title, amassing 200 points to Stanton County’s 90 in the seven-team field.

The eighth grade boys won with 130 points to runner-up Wichita County’s 112 among seven teams.

The eight grade girls were second behind Stanton County, 117-100 Amon seven teams.

7th grade girls

Kamry Michaelis won four individual titles and Tess Barnhardt two to lead the seventh grade girls.

Michaelis won the 100-meter hurdles in 18.68 seconds and the 200-meter hurdles in 33.92.

She took the high jump, clearing 4-10. And in winning the triple jump, she set a school record with a leap of 33-7.

Barnhardt won the 100-meter dash in 14.41 seconds and the 200 meters in 29.50.

Barnhardt was also part of the 4x400 relay winners, along with Kai Calkins, Keylee Moore and Ryann Bamberger. They ran 4:43.76.

Lance Waechter was second in the pole vault, and the 4x100 relay team of  Waechter, Tynslee Wideman, Kai Calkins and Barnhardt placed second.

Third places went to Calkins in the pole vault and 200-meter hurdles, Daniella Villa in the 3200 meters, Kaylie Meyers in the 1600 meters, and the 4x200 relay of Renata Quinones, Yareli Altamirano, Bamberger and Wideman.

7th grade boys

The seventh grade boys took five titles on their way to the team title.

Sperry Blaine won the long jump, leaping 15-2.75. Aaron Kiessel won the shot put, throwing 32-2.5, and Valle Emanuel won the high jump, clearing 4-6.

Miles Delgado won the 100-meter hurdles in 19.35 seconds, and the 4x100 relay of Blaine, Kiessel, David Villa and Emanuel won in 44.22 seconds.

Second place finishes went to Kiessel in the discus, Dylan Wozencroft in the shot put, Clark Maddux in the 3200 meters, Calvin Gugelmeyer in the 100-meter hurdles, Blaine in the 100-meters and Delgado in the 1600 meters.

Third places went to gugelmeyer in the long jump, Blake Vasquez in the 3200, and Jaden Valle in the 1600.

8th grade boys

Lakin’s eighth grade boys took four titles on their way to the team title.

Devin Wozencroft won the discus, throwing 96-9. Cage line won the shot put, throwing 41-7.5.

Jaxson Meyers won the 100-meter hurdles in 15.26 seconds. Avery Manzano won the 200-meter hurdles in 28.68.

Placing second were Wozencroft in the shot put, Paxton Jones in the pole vault, and Gavin Dyas in the 1600.

Manzano, Carlos Villa, Line and Meyers placed second in the 4x100 relay in 50.36 seconds.

Jones, Barrett Mings, Manzano and Carlos Villa were second in the 4x400 relay, running 4:12.39.

Placing third were Dyas in the 3200, Manzano in the 100-meter hurdles, Line in the 100-meter dash, Jones in the 800, and Meyers in the 200-meter hurdles.

8th grade girls

Sydny Holloway won two titles for the eighth grade girls in their runner-up finish.

Holloway won the 100-meter hurdles in 19.08 seconds. She also won the 200-meter hurdles, running 35.15.

Chloe Stahlecker won the high jump, clearing 4-6. She was also third in the triple jump.

Kiah Beymer took second in the pool vault and the 400-meter dash.

Lydsey Loeppke was second in the 100-meter hurdles and third in the 200-meter hurdles.

Holloway, Kaylie Martinez, Stahlecker and Beymer were second in the 4x400 relay, running 4:59.51.

Martinez, Yamilet Ramirez, Eneri Romero and Beymer placed third in the 4200 relay, running 2:08.46.
