Softball splits with Ulysses

The softball squad split a doubleheader with Ulysses at home Monday, taking the first game 9-4 but losing 15-9 in the nightcap.
In the first game, the Broncs took a 5-2 lead after two innings to take the lead for good, pounding out 14 hits to the Tigers’ seven.
Julia Arreola and Taybree Lohman-Fuller both had three hits, with Lohman-Fuller driving in three runs.
Sara Martinez had a double and Arreola, Atlantis Hernandez and Lohman-Fuller all had a triple.
Moriah Ortiz pitched all seven innings, giving up four runs (two earned), striking out eight and walking five.
In game two, The Tigers took a 12-0 lead after the top of the third inning, adding three more in the fourth. Lakin scored two runs in the third, fourth and fifth innings and three in the seventh.
The Broncs committed 12 errors and were out-hit 12-7.
Lileah Villa had three of Lakin’s hits, a double and a home run. She also drove in three runs.
Ortiz pitched all seven innings, but only six of the runs were earned. She struck out nine and walked three.
