Baseball falls to Ulysses

Lakin baseball travelled to Ulysses Thursday and lost 4-0 and 15-11.

In the opener, Ulysses scored one run in the first and the score remained 1-0 until the bottom of the sixth, when they added three more runs.

Ulysses collected two hits but benefitted from 10 Lakin errors.

Lakin had no hits and only four batters reached base, all via walks.

Armando Salcido got the start, going 4.2 innings and giving up just one unearned run. He struck out four and walked five.

In the second game, Lakin scored first and had the lead at 5-3 after the top half of the fourth, but Ulysses scored five runs in the bottom of the inning.

Lakin tied the game at 8-8 in the next inning, but the Tigers scored seven runs in the bottom of the sixth.

Lakin out hit the Tigers 12-6 but committed eight errors, which led to seven unearned runs.

Adrik Gomez-Esquibel had four hits and Salcido three to lead the Broncs. Gomez-Esquibel had two doubles and four runs batted in.

Eli Bemis took the loss in relief.
