Softball sweeps Elkhart

The softball team moved to 5-3 for the season with a doubleheader sweep at Elkhart Tuesday.

The girls won 15-7 and 17-2.

In the first game, Lileah Villa drove in four runs on three hits, doubling in the second and fourth innings and hitting an inside-the-park home run in the seventh.

Lakin scored four runs in each of the first two innings and added six more in the fourth, out hitting the Wildcats 20-6.

Jara Davidson had four hits and three runs batted in. Marieke Van Der Knapp had three hits, as did Taybree Lohman-Fuller.

Moriah Ortiz gave up three hits and five runs over four innings, striking out six and walking nine to get the win.

In game two, Lohman-Fuller drove in four runs on three hits to lead the Broncs.

Lakin scored five in the first and seven in the third, adding four more in the fourth to cruise to the win.

Julia Arreola also had three hits, and Davidson and Cadence Brown each had a pair of hits.

Bri Holmes and Brown both had three RBIs to add to Fuller’s four batted in.Ortiz pitched three innings, striking out three and walking three.
