Baseball drops two to Beavers

The baseball team dropped a pair of games at home Thursday against Scott City, 9-8 and 14-5.

In the first game, Scott City outhit the Broncs 14-12.

Lakin held a 7-5 lead after four innings. But the Beavers scored three in the sixth to take an 8-7 lead before the Broncs tied it up in the bottom of the sixth.

Scott City scored once in extra innings to get the win.

Gabe Cox, Armando Salcido and Bode McCormick each had two hits to lead the Broncs.

Adrik Gomez-Esquibel had a triple for the Broncs’ only extra-base hit. He also had three runs batted in.

Eli Bemis started for the Broncs, going 5.1 innings, striking out two and walking four. Salcido came on in relief, striking out two and walking three.

In game two, Scott City outhit Lakin 8-5, but the Broncs committed five errors that led to seven unearned runs in the loss,

The Beavers scored four runs in the second inning and six in the third to get the win.

McCormick had two hits, and Salcido and Gomez-Esquibel had two runs batted in to lead the Broncs.
