Boys win first track meet

The boys track season got off to a great start Tuesday at Stanton County.

The Broncs placed first in 14 of the 18 events as they ran away from competition, scoring 189.5 points. Cimarron was second with just 88 points.

Colter Oldham had a stellar meet, winning three events, setting a school record in the shot put. The junior won the shot put with a throw of 57-3.5.

He also won the discus (155-9) and javelin (165-6).

Ross Rider won two events, taking the long jump (21-9) and triple jump (45-9). Quincy Esquibel was second in the triple jump (44-3).

Alex Luce won two running events. The junior won the 800-meter run in 2:04.81 and the 1600-meter race in 4:51.16.

Tyelor Holloway was another double winner, taking the 110-meter hurdles in 16.77 seconds and the 300-high hurdles in 42.15.

Austin Ritsema won the 3200- meter run in 10:42.13. He also won the high jump (6-2) and placed second in the 1600-meter run (4:59.03).

The Broncs swept all three relays, taking the 4x100 in 44.16, the 4x400 in 3:42.55 and the 4x800 in 8:58.67.

Javion Granado placed second in the pole vault (11-0).

High jump: 1. Ritsema.

Long jump: 1. Ross Rider, 3. Esquibel.

Triple jump: 1. Rider; 2. Esquibel.

Pole vault: 2. Javion Granado.

Discus: 1. Colter Oldham.

Javelin: 1. Oldham.

Shot put: 1. Oldham.
