Girls compete at state wrestling

Three Lakin wrestlers participated at the state Class 4-1A tournament in Salina.
Ileana Robles won her first match at 190 pounds, winning by fall over Taylor McGowne of Kingman in 5:40.
Robles lost a 4-2 decision to Kara Pope of Girard and then lost a 5-1 decision against Ellie Baska of Paola.
At 135 pounds, Ivy Davis won a first-round consolation match over Morgan Pickering of Santa Fe Trail, this match by fall (2:27).
Davis lost her next round by fall to Gabby Rust of Fort Scott.
The senior had lost her first round to Keimarla Thompson of Pratt by fall (3:11).
Luna Vasquez lost her opening match at 105 pounds to Alissa Cowing of Clay Center by fall.
She advanced in the consolation round by injury default before losing by major decision to Jentri Porter of Wichita County.
Vazquez finished her season with a 20-18 record. Davis finished 35-8. Robles finished 20-9.
