Girls fall to Indians

Friday’s game at Wichita County was a rematch of the league tournament title game from the previous weekend.

It had the same result, though in a more competitive way as the Indians took down Lakin 44-37.

Lakin led the state-ranked Indians 10-9 after the first quarter but Wichita County countered with a 13-7 second quarter.

The Indians added a 13-10 third period before Lakin closed with another 10-9 period.

Lakin out-shot the Indians 33 percent to 28 percent, The Broncs converted 10 2-pointers (out of 25) while Wichita County was 13 for 33, as well as making two 3-pointers.

Lakin outscored their opponents by five at the free throw line.

The Indians held a 32-30 rebounding edge.

Lakin committed 28 turnovers to the Indians’ 15.

Jara Davidson led the Broncs with 13 points and Samantha Vogel added 10.

Aryn Michaelis led the team with eight rebounds. Reagan Chavira had four steals and five assists.
