Broncs roll over Trojans

The boys basketball squad made it two wins in a row following last week’s runner-up finish in the Goodland tournament, this time taking down the Trojans 73-42 at Stanton County Friday night.

The Broncs (5-1) followed up on Tuesday’s 80-point output at Sublette with 73 on Friday.

Trailing 15-13 after one quarter, Lakin outscored the Trojans 27-9 in the second to take a 40-24 lead at halftime.

They outscored the Trojans 33-18 in the second half. 

The Broncs shot 47 percent from the floor (7 of 21 from 3-point range). They also cashed in on 38 points off 35 turnovers.

Three Broncs landed in double-figures, led by 14 from Colter Oldham. Austin Ritsema added 12 and MJ Gonzales 10.

Lakin made 30 field goals, including seven 3-pointers. Maddux Beltran had three of the treys to account for his nine points.

Adrik Gomez-Esquibel, Ritsema and Gonzales all had four rebounds. Eric Munson had five assists and Gonzales and Ritsema both had four steals.

The Broncs are off for the holiday break, resuming play Jan. 5 at Syracuse, then Jan. 9 when they will host Holcomb.
