Broncs take down Sublette

After a close first quarter, the Lakin boys broke away in the second period to get their fourth win in December, an 80-60 win at Sublette Tuesday.

Averaging 64 points a game, this was Lakin’s highest scoring output of the season as the Broncs improved to 4-1.

Leading 18-17 after the opening period, the Broncs used a 34-19 second period to take a 52-36 lead at intermission.

Lakin shot 46 percent from the floor, including 30 of 58 from 2-point range. They were 3 of 14 from outside the arc. The Broncos hit 11 of 16 from the free throw line.

Sublette, meanwhile, shot 42 percent (25 of 59 overall) and shot just 8 of 20 from the free throw line.

Lakin out-boarded the Larks 40-34, including 21 offensive rebounds.

Sublette turned the ball over 27 times and Lakin 22.

Three Broncs scored in double figures, led by Austin Ritsema with 26 points on 12-for-20 shooting.

Colter Oldham had 17 points and Dru Patterson 13 to lead the Lakin offense.

Ritsema had 10 rebounds, seven of those on the offensive end.

Adrik Gomez-Esquibel and Oldham had four and three assists, respectively.

Oldham had four steals and Eric Munson three.
