Broncs rip Wallace County

The Broncs boys got their season off to a good start, handling Wallace County at home Friday, 73-36. 

Lakin led from start to finish, taking a 25-9 lead after one quarter and expanding that to 49-20 by halftime.

The Broncs shot 46 percent from the floor (24 of 41 inside the arc and 6 of 25 outside), while holding the Wildcats to just 30 percent (10 of 33 overall).

Lakin outscored the Wildcats on transition points 20-0, forcing 29 turnovers and committing just 10.

Lakin also blocked six shots. They struggled at the line, however, converting just 7 of 21 while Wallace County made 13 of 24.

Ten players scored for the Broncs, led by Colter Oldham’s 19 and Austin Ritsema’s 14.

The Broncs led in rebounds with 20 on both the offensive and defensive ends. Ritsema was the top rebounder with eight.

Adrian Gomez-Esquibel had seven assists, Dru Patterson had six deflections, and Ritsema had six steals.

Lakin will be at the Goodland Topside Tipoff tournament Thursday through Saturday.
