Scholars bowl hosts opening meet

Lakin kicked off the scholars bowl season with the traditional home meet Tuesday.
Elkhart won the meet, with Southwestern Heights second, Hugoton third, Sublet fourth, Wichita County fifth and Scott City sixth.
A young Lakin squad didn’t break into finals, going 0-5 in pool play. Their best match was against Cimarron, which they lost 40-20.
Scholars bowl will travel to Southwestern Heights Tuesday.
