Alex Luce led the Broncs by placing sixth, with fellow junior Austin Ritsema finishing 10th.

Luce’s time was 16:00.4 for the 5-kilometer (3.2 mile) course, while Ritsema’s time was 16:12.3.

Only 24 seconds separated first place from 10th. 

Wichita-Trinity’s Clay Shively won in 15:48.0 with teammate Samuel Ferguson second in 15:48.1.

Holcomb’s Brody Deniston was third in 15:51.4.

Of the twelve scoring teams, Lakin finished sixth with 172 points, just one point behind Nemaha Central.

Wichita-Trinity won the team title with 49 points. Southeast of Saline was second with 73 and Holcomb third with 98. Marysville was fourth with 151.

In the final regular season Class 3A rankings, Lakin was seated seventh.

Other Lakin scorers were Justin Leader in 65th (18:27.1), Zael Bermudez 73rd (18:48.0), and Vicente Davis 83rd (19:29.7).

Also running for Lakin were Gabe Cox (84th, 19:32.0) and Blake Matthews (98th, 20:05.5).
