Cross country competes at Hugoton

The cross country teams competed in Hugoton Saturday.

Alex Luce led the Broncs, finishing second in 16:17.64. Brody Deniston of Holcomb won the meet in 15:58.7.

Austin Ritsema placed fourth in 16:18.90.

Other Lakin runners in the 98-man field were Zael Bermudez  (45), Gabe Cox (50), Blake Matthews (58), and Eric Munson (61).

The varsity boys finished sixth among the 15 teams with 158 points. Holcomb was the winner with 53 points, followed by Liberal with 59.

Emma Miller was the top varsity runner for the girls, placing 20th (22:36.97).

Ivy Davis placed 36th, Luna Vazquez 42nd, Abby Holmes 44th, and Shillelagh Kentner 46th.

The girls finished fifth with 121 points. Liberal won the meet with 46.

For the JV boys, Vicente Davis placed 10th in 19:38.69.

Other runners were Camden Bergkamp (22), Owen Ostberg (42), Zalvador Bermudez (56), Chris Ortiz (58), Blake Walker (60) and Kade Hartman (61).

For the JV girls, Kayleen Tanner finished 12th, Melany Lorenzo 30th, and Addison Grusing 31st.
