Girls golfers open season

The girls golf team opened its season Thursday in Hugoton.
Senior Alli Mead shot a 47 on nine holes, tying with five others. Based on tiebreakers, she finished sixth in the 50-person field.
Sophomore Mya Brown, in just her second year of golf, shot a 54. That tied for 18th, which is her top 20 finish.
The winner was Danica Amerin of Hugoton, who shot a 39. Anna Starbuck of Colby finished second with a 41. Hanna Wolf of Ulysses was third with a 46.
The golfers compete in Goodland Tuesday all day and Thursday afternoon in Cimarron.
