Cross country opens at Goodland

The cross country teams opened their seasons at Goodland last Thursday.

Varsity boys
Highlighting the day was the boys varsity, finishing third with 62 points. Holcomb finished first among the seven teams with 27 points and Scott City second with 58.

Austin Ritsema finished second in 17:20.9 and Alex Luce third in 17:39.2 to lead the Broncs. Winning time was Brody Deniston of Holcomb, with a 16:47.2.

Zael Bermudez finished 14th (19:47.1), Justin Leader 22nd (21:08.3), Eric Munson 25th (21:31.8), Gabe Cox 25th (21:35.2), and Camden Bergkamp 31st (21:56.3).

Varsity girls
The varsity girls finished fifth with 95 points. Norton won the meet with 25 points.

Top runner for Lakin was Emma Miller, who placed 15th, running in 25:27.1.

Ivy Davis ran 30:20.5 (25th), Odaliz Garcia 30:59.7 (27th), Luna Vazquez 33:08.4 (29th), Abby Holmes 33:35.5 (30th) and Shillelagh Kentner 35:34.4 (32).

JV boys
The JV boys finished third among four teams. 

Top runner for Lakin was Blake Matthews, who finished fifth in 21:36.2.

Other top finishers for Lakin were Vicente Davis (11), Brennen Bless (12), and Zalvador Bermudez (21).

JV girls
Kayleen Tanner finished second in the JV girls race, running 35:14.4, and Addison Grusing placed fourth in 35:49.5.
