Softball takes two from Trojans

The softball team hosted Stanton County Monday, sweeping the night 16-6 and 19-10.

In game one, Julia Arreola drove in four runs on three singles to lead the Broncs. She drove in two runs in the first and one each in the fourth and sixth innings.

Lakin scored seven runs in the bottom of the fourth to take a 13-3 lead, including a two-run homer by Brianna Holmes.

Mariah Ortiz got the win, striking out six and walking four. She allowed six hits in going the distance, with only two of the runs being earned.

In the second game, Lileah Villa drove in five runs on three hits, including a two-run triple and a solo home run.

Lakin scored 11 runs on six hits in the bottom of the fifth to take a 16-10 lead, which included Villa’s triple.

Cadence Brown got the win, striking out four and walking none in 2.2 innings in relief of Ortiz.

Elitza Fonseca had two hits and drove in three runs.
