Baseball takes two from Sublette

The baseball Broncs swept two games at home Monday against Sublette, 9-0 and 11-8.

In the first game, Lakin scored three runs in the first, two more in both the third and fourth innings, and single runs in the fifth and sixth.

Lakin out hit the Larks 10-1, including three by Adrik Gomez-Esquibel (including a double) and two from Dru Patterson.

Patterson had two of Lakin’s six stolen bases.

Eli Bemis got the win, pitching four innings. The sophomore gave up just one hit, striking out three and walking three.

In game two, Sublette out hit the Broncs 8-6 but seven errors led to seven Lakin runs.

Sublette scored three runs in the first inning and led 7-4 going into the bottom of the fifth inning. That’s when the Broncs scored seven runs to take the lead for good.

Bemis had two hits, including a double. Gomez-Esquibel had three runs batted in and Bemis had two.

Patterson had two more stolen bases in that game.

Armando Salcido got the win in relief. He pitched four innings, striking out three and walking two.

Bode McCormick got the start, striking out seven and walking three in three innings.
